Dear readers, and friends of Synnika,
We are pleased to announce the release of the Solidarity Art Edition
"Fragmente gegen das Jetzt" (en. Fragments against the Current). On this
occasion Synnika will host a release event on June 1, starting at 7 pm.
The edition was initiated by Jonas Höschl and thirtysixshots (Tim
Erdmann & Christina Gotz), and published in cooperation with Synnika
e.V. The two versions of A4-boxes gather fine art prints of 5 artists
each. In total the edition is limited to 10 boxes of each set of
artworks. Selling the editions serves the purpose of activating
donations to Rote Hilfe e.V. We could win Donja Nasseri, Luise Marchand,
Kai Ruhland, Marta Vovk, Avery Gia Sophie Schramm, Emma Adler, Jonas
Fahrenberger and Ju Young Kim for their support with artworks.
Each of the two solidarity boxes priced at 500€ includes fine art prints
by 5 artists. All proceeds will be donated to Rote Hilfe e.V. For all
questions and inquiries about purchasing the edition please contact
naomirado(a)synnika.space.

28.5.2023, 3 pm
Visit us on the Sunday before closing for a talk on hostile
architectures, borders, and chains in public space, after which Synnika
member Naomi Rado will guide a curatorial walk through the exhibition.
Get insights on how repressive infrastructures correlate to the current
exhibition »Blurry Gazes« by Anna Boldt & Mathias Weinfurter, and
Weinfurter's sculptural works as such. The talk will focus on the work
series »P.P.« featured in Weinfurter's recent publication ARCHIVE I, as
well as on examples of hostile architectures in public spaces.
Afterwards Naomi Rado will give background information about Synnika's
program theme for 2023 »BEYOND BARRACKS« and the work body shown in the
current exhibition »Blurry Gazes«.
CLOSING // FINISSAGE »BLURRY GAZES«
29.5.2023, 3 pm
The current exhibition »Blurry Gazes« by Anna Boldt & Mathias Weinfurter
comes to an end. Visit us for a last time on Monday, 29th of May,
opening at 3 pm. The artists will be present, and happy to answer
questions about their work.
»Blurry Gazes« follows the interdisciplinary research work of @anna &
@mathias, which the duo began in Colombia under the title "Miradas
Borrosas" in 2019 and continued in the context of their residency at the
NIROX Foundation (2022-23) in the Republic of South Africa. The central
exploration of the artistic research addresses questions of private and
public space, functions and mechanisms of security architectures, and
examines their relationship to social structures that produce poverty
and exploitation under the sign of capitalism. Like through a magnifier,
Blurry Gazes thus functions as a mediator that not only focuses on
individual lived realities, but aims at global comparability.
